Video Game Tester – SONY!?
I want to be a game tester for SONY really badly. I’d be so dedicated in my work and they’ll get the best out of me. What would I need to do to get into SONY’s game testing? If you don’t know, how much do game testers make? I don’t get how it works because people say for different companies your salary differs. I hear you get $40,000 – $100,000 + as a game tester but I just want to make sure. How much do proffesional testers make? (Years wise). Thanks!

When you get hired to Game Test at Sony, you will be hired through an agency as a game tester.
You will make between $8-12/hr the first 40/week plus overtime hours are sometimes available.
There is a lot of overtime during parts of the year so that is how you get to $40,000/yr
If you continue, then you can get to $60-80,000/year by 4 years but you need schooling.

Video Game Tester – Education Needed!?
I was wondering, what is needed to become a video game tester? I am looking into it and it might be my chosen career. I heard the salary was around $30,000 which isn’t the BEST…. Can this salary be improved? Do I need to go to college or university? What courses do I need to take? Also, after my schooling is complete, how do I start? I am lost at the moment and I want to start a.s.a.p.

From what I understand, most video game testers do not do it as a career, they are volunteers who either make about $10/hour or a copy of the game that they are testing. No experience necessary.
On the other hand, the serious game/beta testers are the QA (Quality Assurance) folks that have a solid education behind them. Check out UAT, University of Advancing Technology, as an example.
