it said on the site that i could be invited to try out demos or test game betas! is this true? can i really get these betas for free? ’cause that would be awesome! what have you gotten from them?

Beta’s also more commonly referred to as OpenBeta’s are copies of programs that are not ready for the masses but are being tested by regular people for glitches. They are great for trying out a game but are not good enough to be used on a regular basis yet due to problems still to be found. Don’t expect to be able to play the game completely through unless Sony issues patches to you for the game.

Xbox 360 BETA testing jobs?
Hi, I’m turning 16 in Oct. I’m a gamer, and I’d like to know if there are any paying jobs out there for testing out for bugs and stuff, preferably Xbox, but I do have a PS3 as well. And if anything else comes to mind (non-paying jobs, beta testing for phones, cameras.. Etc) that be great if you could specify. And what jobs would be easier to get contact with? I’ve applied for both EA games, Epic Games studios. But I have yet to get an answer in about a year.

Yes, but they aren’t going to hire a 16 year old. You would have to work at the Microsoft offices in Washington (or EA’s offices, etc), not from home.
A friend of mine used to be a game tester for Microsoft. It’s a really crappy job. You’re not playing through the game and looking for bugs. You get told to jump in one particular spot a couple of thousand times and see how many times it screws up.

Playstation 3 Internet, suddenly lagging.?
Well this has been happening A LOT with my PS3 lately.
I will go into an online game (such as Bad Company 2 beta or MW2) and it will be all fine and unlaggy for the first like 5 or 10 minutes. I will check my ping at the start of the game and it will have FULL 4 green bars. I then check when I start lagging and it has gone down to a 1 bar. This isn’t even just like the 1 bar where your shooting is slightly delayed, my player seems to hop around and takes more steps backwards and to the sides than forward.
This never used to happen but has just started in the past month or so. I am with Bigpond, Cable Extreme Liberty 25GB. My NAT Type is type 2 and my download speed (as recorded using the PS3 test) is 13.9mb/s and my upload is 244.76kb/s. I have a Linksys WRT54GL router.
Any help would be appreciated, if more info is requested I would happily provide it. So any way I can fix this. Also no one is using the internet at the same time as me when I test it, my connection is wireless. (Modem-Router-Wirelessly PS3)

And Jade, shutup. I do not want stupid fanboys interrupting my question, if it was asking what was better I’ld welcome your opinion, but here no one cares.
Get over it. I used to be a fanboy, but gave up when I realized no one really cares what console you support.
It is my connection, not my PS3 aswell. So stop trolling.

I’ve been having this problem too, unfortunately, it seems to be a problem with the PSN network, it’s also the reason why a lot of people including me, lol, haven’t been able to sync their trophies.
Sony say it’s due to the huge uptake of people playing MW2 being far greater than Sony had anticipated, and personally I think it’s probably also due to more people downloading movies from PSN than they thought there would be.
You can try rebooting your modem or router (you don’t need to re-set them that might undo your security settings) just switch them off for 3 to 5 mins and then back on again, but I think the problem is at Sony’s end, not yours:)

My PS3 is taking so long to download updates and games. Why?
I wanted to play Uncharted 2, so I went on it and I constantly got the error messages for config files, levels, and models. I went on some forums, and someone said to delete the 1.09 patch and install it again. I deleted it and I am currently downloading it right now. The patch is 20 megabytes, it is at 56% and it has taken me 25 minutes to get this far. I also downloaded the Killzone 3 beta which is 800mb, I went to dinner and then gamestop which took 30-45 minutes and it was at 50%. I disabled media servers but it didn’t help. I checked my network settings and the signal strength is at 97%, upnp is enabled and the connection is fine. When I tested the connection it could not tell me the download speeds, and upload speeds. I really don’t know what is wrong, my 360 can download 20mb files in like 2-5 minutes. I really need help. Thanks in advance. After typing this, the download is at 67%
I HAVE A XBOX 360, so don’t say “buy an xbox.”

Connection Problem for PS3!?
I’ve been playing a bunch of games online, and they worked fine. Then as I was playing UFC, it stopped working online. Then I went to Call of Duty, and it stopped working too. Then I was playing the MAG Beta yesterday, and today it doesn’t work either! It’s very irritating.
I ran a connection test and at Server Type it said NAT 2. You server may not be compatible with some online games (Or something similar). How can I fix this? There’s no point to any of my games without online capability!

First , the mag beta ended yesterday so you can delete it . The mag beta servers are permanently offline . Second there is server maintenance scheduled this week on psn so that could be a reason you’re unable to connect .
Third , be sure to forward all of the ports needed for psn ( find the list at ps3 support website )
fourth , if all else fails power cycle your equipment , redo settings and finally call your isp to see if the problem is on their end or you already reached your bandwidth cap
