This question has been asked several times here so I will refer you to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_testing

for the general questions above.

If you could find a real game testing job in India, I bet it would pay about $300/USD month.
I base that on what the game testing companies from India Charge US game developers for Testing.
There are probably crowd source groups that you are competing with that would test for free or almost free.

You will have to go to work in an office. There are no career stay at home game testers and the stay at home game tester is mostly a scam. You can find one once in a while but it is easier to win the lottery.

PowerUpGames.com offers Game Tester Training but it has a fee. The training was developed from Training game testers at GameINSTINCT.com a US based Professional Game Testing company.

You will only get to play a variety of games if you test for an Outsourcing company that tests games from all over the world. If you work for a specific publisher, you will test the titles they are creating.

To help you land the position become familiar with what game testing is, terminology, etc and build out a good cover letter and resume and maybe of activities that you do in gaming built into a portfolio.

Get some good experience and be able to talk about what you did in with the knowledge and terminology you have learned about Game Testing.

Become familiar with the basics of game testing so after you land a position, you can keep it.
(there are some companies that will hire 10 game testers knowing that after 2-3 days, they will know the best of the group and will lay off the rest. It is cheaper than doing a deep interview process)

If you want help completing the above steps, please investigate our Training at PowerUpGames.com

Good Luck.

admin answers:

Being a game tester is not what you might think it is. Being a good game player helps, of course, but it’s not really required, because you won’t be doing much actual playing. Remember it takes about 3 years, sometimes even more, for a game to go from concept to market, and requires large teams of programmers, testers, and artists. Being on the testing team can get very boring and repetitive, and you have to have a LOT of patience. You don’t just get to sit there and play all day. A segment of a game you would be able to finish in 5 minutes in end-user play, might take you a full 8 hours of work to perfect, find bugs, and fix. You have to play the same segment of the game over and over again, trying stress tests in different ways, attempting to exploit any potential bugs, and making small adjustments to every little thing. You have to do things in the game that have nothing to do with the way an end-user would play. You have to carefully look for minute detail errors in tiny game segments, then stop the run after only a few seconds, open the code, and pinpoint exactly what went wrong and where, and figure out how it can be fixed. And you have to do it a little bit at a time, every time.

That being said…you can usually make about $50-70K per year as a tester, depending on the complexity of the work you are required to do, and your level of experience.

Ethical Hacking/Penetration Tester/Security Analysis Career Advice?

Well,
I’m 16, I’m currently taking my GCSEs.

I was interested in this ‘hacking’ subject since a young child (Since 6-ish).
I’ve always weirdly thought of it as something cool to hack into something, whether it be downloading a pirated game, to ‘hacking’ into someone’s computer/facebook etc account (hacking, also known as, Guessing, at most)
I’m not sure if this is a plea for attention or something in my younger days, all I know is that I’m still interested in it.
Also, As you may have realized by this point, I LOVE computers.

A careers advisor came to my school, and showed me a excellent website that led me to this career-

http://search.ucas.com/cgi-bin/hsrun/search/search/StateId/QFRYNGmqhZadXqBOu9th58M2TGD2q-V7KM/HAHTpage/search.HsKeywordSuggestion.whereNext?query=10037&word=ETHICAL+HACKING&single=N

This definitely peaked my interests, and after a lot of pondering around the internet for information, I’m still left with many questions..

So,
(1) Do I have to deal with a lot of codes?
(2) What programs do I use?
(3) Recommended A level choices, and is Media useful?
(4) Is it hard?
(5) What do I learn basically?
(6) Salary summary, if possible :3.

By the looks of it, I may need someone who’s worked in this business or at least known someone who has, because google doesn’t seem to offer that much information.

Finally, have a look at my GCSE/A-level choices-

GCSE-
ICT
Psychology
History
Geography (Which I regret picking at this point)

A level (What I’m planning to pick)-

ICT
Psychology
Media/Sociology
History/Philosophy

(7) Any recommendations to what I should pick?

Sorry for this lengthy post, I really hope someone helps me out here, and helps answer some of these questions, I’m pretty lose here /:.

It wouldn’t hurt to learn as much programming as possible. Start programming today if you haven’t already. As a programmer you could work in a cubicle and make between 30 and 100K per year depending on skill level.

You could also try to create a program and sell it which would earn you a lot more, but is pretty difficult to do.

As a programmer you still need to be able to communicate and be relatively well rounded, so any of the electives would work. So take what you are interested in.
