Video Game Tester question?
I was thinking about trying to become a Video Game Tester and working from home. And i was wondering are these jobs as good as they sound.
I looked on yahoo hotjobs and two Companys came up (Artisan & ELITE Game Tester) are these reputable company’s and which one is Better. (i’m asking this to people who work as video game testers or people who have worked as video game testers before)

Go to Elite, no doubt. They are a reliable and great place to work. Working from home is a good option that they actually allow (some game programming organizations do not let you work from home.) I mostly say this because my friend works there and I will too after college. GO FOR IT!!!!

Ever heard of ELITE Game Testers?
There is a company that says you can pay to be a member and they’ll find companies to pay you to test video games at home. The membership is only about 40 dollars for two years. I would just like to hear from people if they think it’s a scam or not. I know a lot of these work at home jobs are just filled with hot air.

It’s not true. I can tell you it’s not true because it is to good to be true for three reasons. First, when companies want game testers they post it on their website. Second, if it claims being a game tester is fun it is not true. Being game testers requires to have the ability to play a video game hours a day for usually months in a row (the same one) Third, most game programmers are payed minimum wage, and the fake sites will claim they are payed $20, $30, or $60 an hour. I have heard the managers claim if it were legal they would only hire autistic people. In fact, most testers are autistic. I know this because I was a game programer, I am autistic and I got the job through Nintendo’s official website. I quit it because I only wanted the money to help pay for college but I played (and completed) Zelda: twilight princess 53 (literally, I counted) times in a row and found a good number of glitches during that time.

What can a person do when they are out of work, disabled and awaiting a disability hearing?
There are so many scams out there for people who want to work from home, I myself have fallen prey to “wanting to work as a video game tester” to “join here to receive assignments to work from home“. I need an income, not to be taken for what little money I do have.

Generally you need some training to do something like medical billing/transcription–travel agent..
The only legit work at home jobs are through the company you will actually be working for..but instead of ‘call centers’ calls are routed to the workers house.
AVAYA is a company that does this–i know someone who did this–but don’t know much about the company….i don’t know if it is technical….basically contact large corporations and ask if they have any work at home jobs….but beware if you make much money–you might as well skip the disability hearing–
