Job openings for microsoft game testers?

I am 16 years old and I am looking for a job as a game tester for microsoft, I live very close to their headquarters in Washington state. Can anyone tell me what to do in order to try to get this job and tell me if I am old enough?

admin answers:

If I am not mistaken Microsoft develops few if any games in house, they are developed by third party companies then sold by Microsoft.

Susan asks…

Where can I get a Game Tester/QA Job in Oregon?

I have been trying to get a job for at least 3 months now, and the closest one I found was in Washington, and one in Portland. Is there any job openings in Salem/Corvallis area? Thanks in advance for your help.

I am scared to try websites like gametesting grounds and other websites like those, I am scared that they will be a scam and steal my money.

admin answers:

Depending on how old you are, Adecco has been pretty good about finding tech jobs. You’ll probably have to travel to Portland tho since that’s where the jobs will be. But realistically, your first testing jobs probably won’t be game testing.

Need Video Game Tester Job?

Hi. I’m 14 and looking for some extra cash. I heard about video game testing and want to check it out, but whenever I go on these sights it shows I have to pay 30 bucks just to get a list of openings. I really would like to try this out. I have an xbox 360 and a good computer on which i have installed a multitude of games(civ 4, sims 2, KOTOR, stronghold 2, sid meir’s pirates etc.) I am interested in testing RPGs,FPSes,RTSes, just about anything as long as it’s fun. Please contact me if you have anything.

admin answers:

If you really want a video game tester job you need to get yourself a 4 year degree in computer science and apply. I have been offered a few jobs (because of my 8 years of computer testing experience) and you are extremely unlikely to get a testing job being 14 and having no prior testing experience. If you really want a job I suggest you try baby sitting, lawn mowing, snow shoveling. Any job you have to pay to get more information for is a scam.

Joseph asks…

anyone know a site with posts for game tester jobs?

im looking for a job in game testing. but i cant find any websites that list current openings for stuff like that. anyone know of any site? or something?!??!

thanks-
azzie

admin answers:

Most game testers are chosen from 2 ranks.

1) People with quality assurance testing skills. They play but try every possible move/action at each step. It’s very detailed and some might concider it boring because you don’t ‘play’ the game.

2) People who do well in the video game contests and have made an impression on the company owners.

They don’t need to post these jobs! They must get thousands of applications!

The best chance is to work for a software development company and learn the QA side of testing. Learn testing modalities like Mercury Test Director, step flow analysis, etc. Then apply to the companies you want to work in. I’m sure there would be opportunities to take the game for a fly after work.

How To Become A Game Tester From Home?

I want to test games from home. Is there anyone else who does this? Could you list as many sites as you can about getting a job like this. Or how did you become a game tester and where is it at? Also it would be nice to know which game places have tester openings right now.
10 points for best answer!
I dont want to know your opinion if I should be one or not I want to do this. Plus I only want a part time job not a full time. I am still in school.
I have tried many times to google it. Not a whole lot. gamertestingground.com is a load of crap! you expect me to pay $40 just for how to be one! It is probably a scam anyways! I would take the info for free if you tell me it i will choose yours as the best answer

admin answers:
