Paul asks…
Video game preproduction tester?
hello i was trying to figure out what i need to become a video game tester! this is my dream and has been ever since a kid playing atari!
i have stayed up to date with video games playing 360 and ps3 and many computer games so obvisously this is the job for me! what do i need to get started and where should i look?

admin answers:
Well, most of the production testers are the programmers and developers themselves, as companies are not going to have a whole job devoted to playing games. So, if you get into computer design, video game design, or something within the industry, than that could be part of your duties.

Richard asks…
How to become a game tester?
I would to be a game tester. I’d love to do it so much that I’d do it for free. So how do I become one for xbox. I’m 14 have an xbox 360 I play all the time and some times I just can’t wait for a new game to come out. I have a gold membership, it expires next year. Some of my friends are testing a ps3 game called Meg. And I want to get in to this stuff. I don’t care what kind of games they are either.

admin answers:
Turn 18. Most of the time when people test games it is to fix them, publicize them, or to rate and right reviews for them. People don’t ask random 14 year old’s to come play a game before it is released.

I want to be a game tester, where would be the best place to start looking for an employer?
I would like to test games for any of the following: PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360.

admin answers:
Chances are you’re going to have to look into college for that. I believe that if you were to do it, you really need to understand what’s going on with the game, any glitches, technical issues, etc. I could be completely wrong but from what I gather, most people in the industry start as testers and slowly work their ways up. Look into it though. I know schools like Full Sail offer degrees in game design.

Online Computer Game Tester Job?
Hello, I am 15 years old almost 16 and I am in need of a job doing something I love. I have set my goals for the future to be a Game Tester but I only have a ps3 and Computer At the moment. Is there a website that don’t cost that I can send a application in? I would appreciate the answers and any more info please reply.
Please and Thank you.
I am aware of what you have to do in the job find the glitches, find any in the game. Be an experienced game tester and find any errors or critical bugs before it is created on he gold disk.

admin answers:
1. Beta testing games whether Closed or Open is -never- paid. You can play the betas and report problems to the GMs who then pass that info on to the developers though.
2. Paid game testing is done “in house.” That means you need to live in the same city as the developer, be 18+, often with a degree, and you play the same part of a game for hours and write up ways to fix problems you encounter.
3. It’s not what it’s cracked up to be. You don’t get to sit around and play games that are nearly done. You play games that are barely recognizable.

Beta game testing for game systems and computer.?
Does anyone happen to know how to get into beta testing for all types of game systems such as Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, and Computer. I want to become a beta game tester and get paid for it. If anyone knows anything please reply.

admin answers:
You don’t get paid to beta test. I’ve beta tested a few games and they never pay you. You can become a game tester which you can get paid to do. You would need to sign up with a company creating video games and hope to get hired and all that stuff. To be part of a Beta is different depending on the game and the company. Like Halo ODST had a beta key for Halo Reach. Others are random, like Blizzard does beta’s by you submitting a form and they randomly pick you. Infinity Ward did the same thing for the beta for MW 4 and MW 6. There are games thats open to anyone that are in beta. I know a free game called darkthrone.com had the game in beta for like a year. So you just need to be active on the gaming websites to see when they open betas and how they will let people in.
Beta testing is usually open to the public to have a lot of people play and it helps them find bugs and glitches a lot quicker than if they had fewer people playing. Alpha testing is usually when the game tester are playing the roughest copy of the game. These are people who get paid (some times), and then after the Apha and Beta testing, they fix those bugs reported, they may test the game again before launch which again would be the paid game testers
So basically if you wanna beta test, its for free. If you wanna be paid for it, you got to be hired then you “work” for them.
