Your Questions About Video Game Testers Salary

Mandy asks…
Video Game Tester Salary (Canada)?
I am 16, and ever since I was small I wanted to test games for faulties and help gaming companies. What I want to know is what the yearly and/or weekly salary is? And how does your experience effect how much money you make? Also, is there a way to make an absolute KILLING?

admin answers:
Close to minimum Wage. But usually there are periods during the year where there is overtime.
If you have 4 years of experience and become a lead, you will make 150-200% of what you did when you were first hired. Get some classes to help.
The people that make a killing are the creatives. Invent a new method to test, invent a new game and get someone to sponsor you, invent a new way to market through social media…

Jenny asks…
what is the beginning salary of a video game tester?
I need to know the starting salary and the maximum salary for a videogame tester…

admin answers:
Depends on the company, and state. I would say the national average for starting out is like $50k. Max, i’m sure QA (quality assurance) specialists for the big gaming companies make up to $150k. Remember, “game testers” do a lot more than play games. They write test cases, plans, bug reports etc.
